Earth spirits

It seems like I've hardly been at home the last couple of weeks and of course my camera has been going everywhere with me, so I've had stacks of photos to download and sort and have been posting a travelogue saga of trips to my gardening blog.

All this at expense of neglecting of my art work, so having the house to myself today I set up the tripod and took some photos of my fabric work.

These are some little wall hangings I've been making with an earth spirit theme.
I'm planning on making a concertina persex (plastic) book and attaching these pieces to the pages, so the whole thing will be free standing.

This one is the water spirits

The faces are paperclay from a commercial mould, I've used a trapunto technique on the fabric base then painted with acrylics.

the devil made me do it....

I did NOT need more fabric.

We were simply going out for the morning when I was forcibly kidnapped and driven by my so-called friend to the Remnant Warehouse at Marrickville, who happened to be having a 25% off sale.

For a fabricaholic tragic like me it was like taking your alchoholic Aunty Flo to the pub and expecting her to sit all night with a small shandy.

$100 dollars later I had this, just look at the yummy sequined pieces at the front (plus a roll of iron on interfacing and some pellon, tulle and assorted bits that weren't as photogenic)

Then so-called friend dragged me around the corner to Reverse Garbage where she proceeded to fill a box full of fabric sample cards (big cardboard box for $5) and I squeezed this sweet little lot into her box.

Today I went to the Hebees group who were making wire coil jewellery - this is my effort, not sure yet what I am going to do with them, but they certainly have potential.

Tomorrow I'm off to our bi-monthly open day at Linnwood House with the local Arts and Craft Society, I'll take the camera as it is a lovely old house.
I've been posting our Sunday outings on my gardening blog, as not much is happening in the garden at the moment, so look there for my Linnwood pics.
