The crepe myrtle spreads a pink carpet on the ground and we wake in the morning to the strong sweetly cloying perfume of the murraya.
The temperatures are in the high 30C and the southern states have severe to catastrophic fire warnings for the next few days, meantime the northern part of NSW has had so much rain the rivers have broken their banks and flooded. Who would be a farmer in Australia, if your stock are not burning to death, they are drowning.
Anyone in the northern hemisphere want to swap some heat for a little snow? - we don't want it ALL thank you, but a just a couple of inches would be nice

the town I live in (Lawrenceville, GA,USA) banners itself Crepe Myrtle City - they line the streets everywhere and I planted a ring of them in the front yard. It's so nice to see them in bloom instead of stark sticks.
Hi Carolyn, I can't believe the scenes of snow that we are seeing from the northern hemisphere, even our ski snow fields don't get that much....and the thing I can't get MY head around is when I see pictures of glorious gardens then months later they are under feet of snow, all those poor plants, how do they survive, do gardeners have to start again from scratch, but I guess it's like my plants dying from heat.
