Changes and Dragons

For various reasons that I won’t go into, I fell out of the blogging habit this year and lost my creative drive along the way. I'm told a change is as good as a holiday...so .....

I’m thinking of a new makeover for my blog and I have a project in mind for 2012.

I’ll explain how  the two things tie in.

When I was looking for a name for my blog I went through a whole lot of magical sounding names and found the word “Gramarye” a medieval word, roughly translated,  meaning magic.

Unfortunately the blog name ”gramarye” was already taken, anyone who has tried to start a blog knows the process of trawling through endless variations of names.

My next choices were something involving  my love of dragons,  or the word ‘fragments’ representing ..what?... fragments of the past…fragments of my many dabbling - again all the names I liked were taken.
I settled on “dragonfragments”….. a bit silly, but I think at the time I was getting quite fed up with not getting the names I wanted.

So as 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, I’m dropping the Gramarye name and will be using Dragon Fragments.

Which leads to the next part of the plan – I need a project - in the past, my daily “365” projects have failed miserably.  Even my ‘photo a day’ turned into more than a quick snap and finished  before the end of that  year.

So instead,  I’m going to try for a “52” -a weekly project.

It may take even more dedication because my plan is to produce A Dragon A Week.

I still have to work out the finer details, I’ve a list of dragon ideas, not quite at 52 yet. Some weeks will be intense sewing, there will be clay and there will be beads and drawings and other weeks might just be photographing my dragon collection.

Interspersed with my own 52 pieces of work will be some dragon lore and links to other inspiring dragon art. It will also give me the opportunity to try some of the many dragon patterns I’ve collected and never got around to making up!

I will be starting on January 16 which is Appreciate A Dragon Day, so until then, have a lovely Hogswatch  and a great new year.

Meantime I’m going to have a clean up on the blog and delete some old irrelevant entries.
See you soon with a new name and a new look!

Sounds like a great idea. I did a challenege called Monthly Make-It that forced me to blog at least once a month and to actually make something. I've committed to doing it again in 2012 and I think a theme is a good idea. I'm also glad to see you are back too:)
